Family life at Hinson
People were also bringing babies to Jesus for him to place his hands on them. When the disciples saw this, they rebuked them. But Jesus called the children to him and said, “Let the little children come to me, and do not hinder them, for the kingdom of God belongs to such as these. Truly I tell you, anyone who will not receive the kingdom of God like a little child will never enter it."
Children Ministry(nursery to fifth grade)
God loves children. A lot. We do too. We believe that parents are primarily responsible to God for their children. Our role in Children's Ministry is to support and encourage the ministry of the parents. This happens organically in the church family in a variety of ways. Church members and volunteers caring for children during the regular meetings of the church is only the tip of the iceberg of our children's ministry. Our prayer is that children would see a vibrant faith in their parents and in the family of the church. Not that they would merely pray a prayer to accept Christ at some summer camp (although this can be great!). But that they would nurture a faith that endures to the end and leads to generations of godliness. Sunday School and "Disciple Makers" (1st-3rd grade program during the sermon) are programs that seek to come alongside parents in a Word centered, positive, and safe way.
Youth Ministry (6th-12th grades)
Our youth ministry is aimed at the parents. Our church recognizes that the primary influence in a teenager's life is parents. With that in mind, we seek to equip and support parents in the task of evangelizing and discipling their children. This equipping begins with the ministry of the Word in the life of the congregation. The Word then changes marriages to picture the Gospel. Healthy marriages will affect the life of a teenager like nothing else. But marriages and families are far from perfect and we can't be good husbands, wives, and parents alone. So where does this leave the teens? They need a family and families need help. This is where the family of God springs into action. Other members of the church coming alongside parents in the discipleship and evangelism of the youth can make a huge impact in the life of teenager. To that end, we try to get teenagers together with godly adults in our congregation to model what it looks to live a life centered on the Gospel. Wednesday nights (6:30-8:00 pm) focus on small group discussions. Middle School Sunday School is at 9:15am in Room 311 in the main building. The High Schoolers also meet at 9:15am in Room 312. And retreats and mission trips all attempt to help teens view the world as God sees it - a field white for harvest. Always check the youth calendar for times and locations of youth events.
