Michael Lawrence

Michael grew up in the deep south and was in church every time the doors were opened. However, it was the ministry of InterVarsity Christian Fellowship at Duke University that introduced him to the Lordship of Christ and reoriented his ambition from medicine to ministry.

After several years of campus ministry at UNC-Chapel Hill, he and his wife Adrienne moved to the Boston area where they both earned the M.Div. from Gordon-Conwell Theological Seminary. At the same time he helped plant a church in the Boston suburbs. Michael earned his Ph.D. from Cambridge University in 2003.

He became Associate Pastor at Capitol Hill Baptist Church in Washington, D.C. in 2002. Michael and his family moved to Portland, OR and began pastoring at Hinson Baptist Church in 2010. Michael has authored several books including Biblical Theology in the Life of the Church (2010) and Conversion: How God Creates a People (2017).

He and Adrienne have been married almost 27 years and have five children.
