Women's Ministries

Our Women’s Ministry exists to engage women with the truth of God’s Word in the context of meaningful relationships. We offer a variety of programs.

Women's Bible Study - In Spirit and truth

We take the Word of God seriously here at Hinson Church and have been preparing all summer for this upcoming year. Our desire is for women to grow in their understanding of and relationship with God as they interact with His word. Women’s Bible Study is also a great time for fellowship with other women as you share what God is teaching you and pray for each other. The small groups are a wonderful blend of younger and older women who have so much to offer each other.

No matter where you are in your spiritual journey or stage of life, you are welcome here.

We sincerely hope that through Women's Bible Study you will engage with the scriptures like never before and come away with a new understanding of God’s Word and yourself.  With 3 meeting times and study options, consider now how to fit one into your schedule.

Registration is open! Visit the registration table in the Welcome Center on Sunday mornings or call Kelly Sauter (503) 539-1644, or Mary-Alice DeBoer (503) 913-8618, or This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it..

The Book of Hebrews, Hoping For Something Better

1st & 3rd Tuesdays 7-9pm

Oct. 3

Library

$12

In this guide Nancy Guthrie applies the ancient truths of Hebrews to our very real needs of today - the needs of significance, security, and hope for the future - and encourages us to refuse to settle for anything less than the something better we've been hoping for all along.

The Gospel of Mark

Thursdays 9:30-11:30am (weekly)

Sep. 14

Dining Room

$35

We are excited to use a study guide written by our own Hinson writing team. Spend the year following along with Jesus and his disciples, encountering many different responses to Jesus and his life on this earth as he ushers in the Kingdom of God and makes reconciliation with God possible. Ultimately, we will find ourselves confronted with the questions, “Who is Jesus?” and “Why does that matter?” The teaching portion of the morning is recorded and can be read or heard at www.hinsonchurch.org. Childcare is available with Thursday Kids and registration for each child is required.

The Book of Ruth

Thursdays 6:45-8:30pm (weekly)

Sep. 21

Annex/Church offices

$12

We will start the fall with an 8-week study on the Book of Ruth, a profoundly human book about ordinary people who portray an extraordinary alternative to the way of life – the way of covenantal kindness. We will find that this short book conveys a big message about loving God and loving others in the midst of real life, hardships and all. You will be challenged to do covenantal kindness even as you trust him to work out his redemptive purposes in his world for his glory and your good. (Guide written by Whitney Woollard).

Simeon Trust Online Course

For the past two years, we have been hosting Simeon Trust Workshops for women to help them grow in their ability to handle God's Word. This fall, we want to make the content of these workshops available to the women in a different format. Starting on September 3rd, running through November 26th, we will meet on Sunday mornings from 9:10-10:30am and will be taking a group of women through the Simeon Online Course - First Principles. This will involve watching (at home) and discussing a lecture video and working out those principles in small groups. To register, This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it. then register for this course (Simeon Online Course – First Principles, Women) on the Simeon Trust website.

Q: How much does this cost?
A: $15 for the online registration.

Q: Will there be homework?
A: Yes, each week you'll be watching a video at home that teaches the tools of biblical exposition. Then during our meeting times we will be looking at one Scripture text and applying the tools that you're learning. You'll have a chance to share your work when we meet, but there won't be any grading!

Q: Will I have to give a full message?
A: No, but you will have a chance to share your work in a small group setting.

Q: What does a typical meeting look like?
A: Starting at 9:10am, we will spend some time discussing the video teaching of concepts as a large group. Then we'll break up into smaller groups, where we'll look at a particular text and one or two will present their homework.

Q: I'm not a Sunday School teacher or Bible Study leader. Should I attend this?
A: If you find yourself in any context where a clearer understanding of God's Word would be helpful (personal study of God’s word, discipling relationships, Bible study at work, etc...), then this course is for you! Taking this course does not obligate you to move towards a teaching responsibility.

Q: What is the goal of this course?
A: That no matter how much or little experience you have in handling God’s Word, all of us would make progress (1 Tim. 4:15-16).

Partnering Ministries

Equipping Opportunities by Western Seminary:

  • Women’s Center for Ministry
  • Verity Fellowship
The Verity Fellowship is a gospel-centered ministry of Western Seminary, encouraging and equipping women to use Scripture well.

We believe that Jesus is central. We want women to be reminded of the beauty and importance of Jesus Christ as they teach the Bible so that his centrality flows into every aspect of their ministries. We do this through our blog, where you'll find members of the Verity community expressing what it looks like to minister the Bible to others. We also strive to equip through our annual events, our conference, our forum, and our training.
